I'm still crossing my fingers that the CW will pick up CBS's RUDELY dropped vampire detective series "Moonlight". If they do, the show will likely air on sunday nights. Currently, I have nothing on the schedule for sundays so I'm just hoping for the best. Aside from Moonlight, Here's the new schedule for the fall. I have a DVR now so overlapping times are no longer a concern for me. Yay! This makes making a schedule a whole lot easier. I have FIVE trial shows this year. I expect only 1 or 2 will actually join the schedule permanently. You can tell them from the others by the astrix beside their names.
[EDIT] Oups! My bad, the promo link for 90210 is now correct. Sorry about that Kristi. [/EDIT]
I went to the prenatal clinic yesterday for my 30 Week visit. My uterus is a bit larger than average for how far along I am. So the doctor says that Landon is going to be a big boy. (I could have told him that) He also told me that he's VERY strong for how far along I am as well and I will possibly deliver before my due date. I'm happy that he's growing to be a big and healthy boy and if I get to meet him a little early under those circumstances then I think that's pretty cool. *smile*
I've updated my DVD collection finally. It's been a while that I've been trying to find a good program that can keep my DVD's organized and also allow me to publish my collection online. I finally found this really great program called DVD Profiler that I'm really happy with. It allows you to enter you DVD by the bar code number so the info about the DVD is totally accurate for that specific edition. And I can upload the list online to their database in order to share my collection with others. I now have 410 DVD's in my collection. If you want to make a request for a review of a certain movie or television show, or you just want to see what I have in my collection then you can view the collection HERE.
Hubby and I bought a HD-DVR yesterday for our satellite. I'm so excited! I don't really care about the High Definition channels really, HD is cool and all, and don't get me wrong I'm excited to be able to watch all my shows in HD, but I've ALWAYS wanted a Digital Video Recorder. LOL It just fascinates me how you can pause live TV and program the receiver to record all of your favorite shows. It's just so sweet! I figured with the baby coming soon I'll be making use of the pausing and recording options so it won't be a waste of money that's for sure. LOL
Shows are finally coming back after that TOO Long strike. Kicking off this comeback is One Tree Hill this coming Monday followed by Gossip Girl the Monday after. Being at home all the time since I went on maternity leave I've been going crazy without any new Television shows. And the worst thing is that I'm not even joking. I broke out into a fit the other night when Hubby asked me if I wanted to watch a movie. I just freaked out and told him "I'm sick of watching Movies God Damn it! All I want to do is watch my shows!" LOL He really can't wait until my pregnancy is over.
I've had the opportunity in the last couple of days to watch some movies and try my hand at a new TV series. Well, the verdict is in and it's time to post the reviews.
Deadwood I tend to be a little more picky with my television selections than my movie selections. Usually, when it comes to movies, I tend to enjoy the westerns. So, when Hubby asked me if I wanted to give Deadwood a try I figured "why not?" But after watching the first two episodes, I have to say, I'm not impressed at all and here's why: For me a show is all about the characters and their development. I can't get into a show if the characters and their storylines aren't well put together from the beginning. This is the case with Deadwood. I truly don't care about any of the characters at this point and for whatever reason, am not even intrigued enough to stick around to see if anything new is learned in the coming episodes. My rule of thumb when trying a new television show is to truly give 4 episodes a try and take it from there. I'm having a hard time bringing myself to even watch the next 2 in order to stick with my rule. I'm going to have to say guys... This one will not be joining the DVD collection. 1 STAR out of 5.
Awake This movie stars Canadian hottie, Hayden Christensen and super sexy Jessica Alba. The previews make like the movie is about this medical phenomenon know as Anesthesia Awareness (where a person is put to sleep for surgery but his brain is completely aware of everything happening to him). Hayden's character is going under the knife for open-heart surgery and he unfortunately experiences this phenomenon. Now at this point, this movie could actually go many different ways. This Anesthesia Awareness thing is some scary shit and could easily be turned into a HORROR movie experience. But it didn't really go there at all. In fact it really wasn't anything like what the previews were depicting. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't at all what I was expecting. It ended up being more like the movie "The Invisible" than any type of horror or thriller movie I've seen. Over all, even though it wasn't what I was expecting at all I still enjoyed the story. I was just not completely thrilled with the ending. That being said. it deserves 3 and a half STARS out of 5.
Into The Wild The very first time I saw Eddie Vedder's video for this movie I just knew that I was going to love the movie. And I was right. Based on the true story of Christopher McCandless' journey to find the meaning of life by abandoning his sheltered life and taking on the wilderness. Depicted as somewhat of a selfish young man, he leaves his entire life including his unconventional and overbearing (but obviously still loving) parents and a sister who worshiped the ground he walked on. The story is adventurous and intriguing. I never once felt like it was slowing down. Sean Penn did it once again with this excellent portrayal of a young man suffering form social claustrophobia in a material world and his need to break free. An amazing film! 4 and a half STARS out of 5.
I spent the last month before the new Lost season getting caught up on season three. Words really don't describe how the story line of this show in the third season has affected me. I could have never come up with the twisting and turning storyline that the amazingly talented writers of this show have come up with. The things we learn in the third season continue to stay with me months later.
So now season 4 is in full swing and this year's storyline is no exception. But since this year I have to wait each week to find out the next piece of the puzzle, I NEED to talk about what we've discovered thus far...
Alright, putting the chaos of LOST behind me for a moment, I'd like to talk a little about my day at work yesterday.
Work began like any other, I went in for 6am, I made the coffee, set up the olive cart and threw away all the outdated food. Then I began going over the planner for Thursday's food prep. That is when I discovered the girl who worked the night before either forgot or just didn't bother to fill the ingredient containers before she went home.
So off to the freezer I go (which I DO NOT like to do at 6am in the morning) And I dug around for everything I needed. But where was the box of bacon? It had arrived in the order the day before... (I saw it with my very eyes) So where the hell did it go??
Well I don't know if any of you have ever dug around in a grocery freezer for over a half an hour looking for a missing box but if not, I can tell you it's not F***in' fun at all. I probably caught a cold and the worst part is I never did find that frigin box of bacon! It's just gone... my boss figures someone who works in the store went into our freezer and stole it! Can you frigin well believe that?? Someone actually stole a box of bacon! What the hell is this world coming to??
Well since someone desperately needed a pig meat fix, I was forced to take 20 packages of bacon off of the meet department's shelf and cook them all.
Words don't describe how frustrating and aggravating it is to fall 2 hours behind in your work cause someone loves bacon so much they just had to steal it.
*Sigh* One more week to go before my maternity leave! I truly can't wait.
Hubby and I went a little nuts the day before last and bought a new Panasonic TV that is nearly twice the size of our old Panasonic!
Quite the upgrade from the 32" we've been living with for the past couple of year. Our living room is now graced with a 50" Widescreen Plasma TV! OMG I never in a million years thought that this would be possible for us to afford but we came across a deal that we couldn't pass up.
It's so funny, last night Hubby and I were watching some episodes of Lost (season 3) and every minute or so he'd be like "It's like we're on the island!" LOL it was so cute. I tried to post a picture of the TV but no matter which way I take the picture it never does the TV justice. So there's no picture for you guys... Sorry. Just take out a tape measure if you want to know how big 50" is. :P
I'm glad Hubby's happy about the TV. I mean lets face it, with our little Sugar Booger on the way, it's safe to say that large luxurious gifts for ourselves will be few and far in between. This is our last "Houblah" so to speak. Not that our life is going to end or anything to that degree, just that children should come first we want to make sure that our child does.
My belly is popping and Landon is movin'. He's been kicking sooo much lately that I'm starting to think he's gonna be the next Jackie Chan! LOL But seriously, now that I'm on the topic of the pregnancy, Hubby and I have decided to cancel our appointment for the 3D Ultrasound in Moncton. I know, I was pretty bummed at first too, but the following are the reasons why we decided that we wouldn't go after all.
3. With Hubby's new Assistant Manager position at work just beginning to take form, there was just no way to guarantee that he'd be able to make the trip.
2. Being that it is in Moncton (3 hours to and from) and daylight is still a bit slim, staying overnight would have been a logical option. But hotel rooms don't come cheap and neither does eating out. It would have been a nearly $1000 expense in all. And though I think 3D pictures are really nice $1000 for 3 pictures is a bit pricey for even me.
1. And the number one reason that we decided not go... Being that we already do know the sex of our baby finding out exactly what he will look like before he is born really does take away from any element of surprise we have left. I want a little something to look forward to as i'm squeezing him out of me. LOL
